First Impression
You look at the clock and it's way past noon. The kitchen you sit in has a homely smell of spices and freshly baked pie. You don't quite understand why, but you've stayed there for quite a while... All because you struck up a conversation with an energetic stranger eagerly jumping from one counter to the other, taking care of the place and now taking care of you. Mesmerized by her pulling levers of huge kitchen ware machines, forcefully yet skillfully kneading dough, filling kettles with water, you responded to her tales and questions with soft smirks and laugh. And you didn't notice how the time went by.
You know her name: Alma Name that means "nurturing, soul". Also means "apple" in hungarian. . And she knows yours. You learned a few funny stories from her life and a few of your own carelessly slipped from your lips as well. It was only natural, after all. Carefree talk. Her contagious smile. Cheeky banter and enchanting gestures as she poured some milk tea in your cup. She just met you, but you feel seen. In that comfortable moment of your presence near her, you matter. Something about her pulls you in. Makes you stay. You can't just leave the desert she shared with you to cool down, after all... And perhaps you will get to know those heavy thoughts lingering behind her eyes.
Personality
Outgoing yet grounded, Alma is the person to both warmly welcome you and whip you into shape should you lack the spirit. She's an energetic "older sister" type, always keeping herself busy with another challenge while making sure to take care of those around her. Those are the things that truly give her joy.
Although she is playfully clumsy and easy-going at a glance, to take her lightly is to err gravely.
Despite her brave and carefree demeanor, Alma's heart is heavy with guilt and doubt. Deeply affected by the death of her childhood friend, she takes every failure close to heart and developed a nasty complex of an overthinking perfecionist. And, though her sharp thinking makes her crafty tactics shine on the battlefield, her self-discipline is often brutal and she tends to overwork herself.
She tends to get attached to individuals rather than groups and while she is straightforward with her opinions, she keeps her more vulnerable feelings buried deep in her chest.
After going through a soulsucking depressive episode, she is determined to never let stillness take her again.
Alma's relationship with gods is a complicated one. During her teenage years she was frustrated with Mol's religious dedication and blamed it for being the reason for their complacency. She herself, therefore, denied the need for any divine guidance, believing that even should a man use divine power, it is his own duty to decide his own fate.
Her connection to Hydaelyn was weaker than Gan's, because while Gan rejected the blessing but acknowledged its existence, Alma had no one around to truly explain the
nature of the Blessing to her and felt skeptical that her powers could be connected to something divine. So no matter how desperately Hydaelyn called,
Alma just never picked up the linkshell, so to speak
Hydaelyn: "Hello, is coochie home. Hear Feel Think"
Alma: Read 5 minutes ago.
.
However, during her time in Garlemald, seeing subjugated people turn to divine guidance in secret to find comfort and maintain the connection with their culture has changed her outlook completely. Nowadays, even though she herself does not consider herself religious, after Endwalker she sometimes talks to Hydaelyn through prayers, honoring the protector that is no longer there.
Besides, it's much easier to respect and accept the existence of someone if they were not a god, but in fact just a very powerful person.
Confident bookworms seem to be her type.

...It is unknown if Alma was born in the Mol tribe or given shelter by the members. All she knows about her missing parents is that they were great Steppe warriors that perished from the claws of enraged gulo gulo.
Regardless of her origin, she quickly earned a rebellious reputation. Uninterested in Mol's peaceful way of living, she picked fights with kids from other tribes and was often found bravely roaming the Steppe on her own, returning back to the settlemets moments before the sun set behind the horizon. Her feistiness and ambition rang through the Steppe wind whenever the title "Mol Wolfling" was uttered.
At age 16, joined by her partner-in-crime and best friend, shy boy Batu, Alma decided to take on the Nadaam on thier own as other Mol were unwilling to join. Though their attempt had a promising start, the boy died from the poison arrow shot by an Oronir warrior.
The rift between Alma and the Mol grew. Unable to take revenge or pursue deeper connection with her tribesmen she left the tribe a year after and spent some time roaming unaffiliated until her bargaining talents, survival skills and miraculous knowledge of foreign languages Hydaelyn's Blessing perk. caught the eye of the Kha Xaela tribe. Actively seeks contact with non Auri people. tribe.
Alma moved to Thanalan during her early 20s thanks to the connections Kha tribe had with a certain merchant in Kugane. She and a few other Kha auri were invited to work and "get familiar with hyur customs". These customs proved rather cruel as transported Kha workers were forced to work for a wealthy lord.
Alma was the only one who had freedom to leave or bargain with people outside of the manor to bring better food and clothes to her tribesmen as she was the only one that spoke eorzean.
The lord soon found out about this and decided to corner her with his bodyguards and "teach her a lesson". Enraged, Alma killed him.
"During that time I mostly took... the indirect approach.
When I came to Thanalan I was quick to notice that the local rules differed from those of the Steppe.
There I met something that can be more dangerous than rampaging nature: a cunning man.
And I couldn't dream of confronting the lord while I was young and lacking pluck.
Yet seeing how my tribe brothers and sisters suffered has long boiled over.
He stood there with his muscle behind, mug crooked with a smug smile... blissfully oblivious that he was giving my patience the last push I needed.
And push I did. The tip of my sword came right out of his back. With it - all the tension, the frustration...
Releasing as I withdrew the bloodied sword.
I felt it all in that moment. The heat of the desert. I was ready to throw hands with his rooks too, but...
I was thrown back to my senses, cooled off as if showered by the coldest Coerthan snows. His men threw their weapons and left.
With the man dead, the deal had no coin for them to stay for".
Few of her tribesmen were free to go their own way while most of the group returned to the Steppe.
She later becomes one of the miners at the Azure Siltstone Minor miner guild in Black Brush. Her members are notorious outcasts or weirdos, for one reason or another. and begins saving up money to become an adventurer.
Around this time she meets Gan that barges in the guildhall malnourished and asks for work. Alma helps her get back on her feet and they form a bond of tight friendship over both being xaela and having a tough past.
Despite lack of resources, Alma decides to attemp adventuring.
Alma spends her time in a shack near Costa Del Sol, wallowing in deep depression. She spends time drinking herself to sleep and living
Deciding to turn her life around Alma takes a one-way trip to Thavnair.

Two unlikely friends united by their hardships in Garlemald. Alma saved Elisey from an execution and he resided in her kitchen as her apprentice until Alma became the Eikon Slayer.
“You could, of course, accept the mediocrity of your prior life.
Succumb to that nauseating slough and drown under the wyrms climbing out of the pit, trampling each other as they try to take the crown part at the stage of fools.
Yet you've always had your own play in mind, your own ambition… even as you first challenged me.” |

The only tribe member who could read common tongue and was known for his shy attitude, reliability and love for books and adventure. Batu's tribe of origin is unknown, though if someone were to pay a close attention to his aptitude towards Black Magic and believed in rumors enough, their conclusion would be quite predictable Batu was a descendant of Magan archmages born to become the next host for their body-swapping immortal Khatun. Alma and Raha first met in NOAH and they had ventured into the Crystal Tower on expedition together. Bonding with quips and playing rather theatrical tricks on each other, the two became quick friends, though their friendship was halted before it could truly bloom, as G'raha locked himself in the Tower shortly after.
Though Alma was quick to forget the fleeting bond they shared, she left a lasting impression on the man. After his initial awakening on the doomed timeline Timeline from Shadowbringers where Crystal Exarch was awakened and then ventured to the First. Black Rose took life of many good people, including Gan, and left Alma despair without her only friend at the time. he found out that despite decades passing on Alma was still alive. "...you were asleep? That long? How?"
"I-- Do you truly not remember?"
“...Nay. Can't pretend I do.”
...And could not remember what made living there so great in the first place.
Shaken by his experiences, as G'raha traveled to the First he made two goals clear: to change fate and to never let his friend succumb to despair again. And just like that, he became Alma's stout supporter, though it is perhaps overbearing and unusual for her at times. Though she often teases him about it and would perhaps prefer if he restrained the ardor, she still enjoys Raha's company on one condition: he has to try his best to keep his cool.
